Can I travel to INDIA with a NZ passport that is almost expiring?
According to indianvisaonline.gov.in, New Zealand passports need to have at least 6 months validity from the date of arrival in India.
A new electronic visa facility for New Zealand passport holders is now in effect. Tourists can now obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) from their homes.
You will have to apply online, upload a photo, a passport scan and pay the necessary fee online. Following this, the Indian government promises to deliver an ETA by e-mail in 72 hours. Over 75 counters have been set up at nine Indian airports to cater to ETA travellers. More details can be found HERE.
Can I travel to AUSTRALIA with a NZ passport that is almost expiring?
Australia requires that your passport must be valid only for the period of your intended travel in and out of Australia. There is no requirement for your passport to be valid for six months after your travel.
Can I travel to other countries with a NZ passport that is almost expiring?
You will need to check this with an immigration department/consulate of the country you are travelling to. Some countries would have the same 6 months rule as India, some would have a 3 months rule
Can my friends/family travel to New Zealand with overseas passports that are almost expiring?
Immigration New Zealand require all passports to be valid either:
- for at least 3 months beyond the date they intend to depart; or
- for one month beyond the date they intend to depart, if the issuing government has consular representation in New Zealand that is able to issue and renew travel documents.
