Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has now established  eMedical in New Zealand.  A total of 133  New Zealand-based medical and radiology clinics are now able to begin using the  electronic health processing tool to record immigration medical examinations.

A list of INZ’s new onshore panel physician network is published on INZ’s website.

 

New Zealand’s new panel clinics join offshore clinics in 128 countries where eMedical has already been established from November 2014. Collectively, eMedical-enabled clinics in the combined 129 countries will ensure around 90 per cent of INZ’s immigration medical examinations are captured electronically when visa applicants visit the clinic.

 

INZ General Manager Stephen Dunstan says that the full deployment of eMedical has created significant benefits for INZ visa applicants and the New Zealand public health sector.

 

“eMedical represents a significant change to the way INZ processes health information for our visa applicants. With eMedical now enabled and supported around the world, INZ’s visa applicants can expect faster and more consistent decision-making where medical information is required.”

 

“Through INZ’s work to develop a well trained and supported global panel physician network and eMedical, INZ can help protect public health in New Zealand, ensure that people entering New Zealand do not impose unexpected costs or demands on the public health sector, and ensure that applicants are able to fulfil their purpose for entering the country,” he says.

 

Mr Dunstan says that INZ will be constantly reviewing the number and location of immigration medical examinations throughout New Zealand and overseas and will work to make changes necessary to ensure that customers continue to receive the best service possible.

 

Despite the onshore panel physician network being established on 31 March, visa applicants in New Zealand may continue to visit any New Zealand registered doctor or radiologist to have paper-based medical certificates completed for an immigration medical examination until 30 June 2015.
