In addition to her long-term career goal of being tops in the field of law, Edda Mijares aspires to have her picture added to the universal dictionary as part of the definition under the term “adventurous.” Despite her youth, this upbeat spitfire has already (both figuratively and literally) climbed a number of mountains.
Born and raised in Cebu City, Philippines, she moved to New Zealand in 2008 to attend the prestigious Victoria University in Wellington. Through determination, dedication and hard work, Edda graduated from law school in 2014, finished her Professional Legal Studies Course, and went on to become enrolled as a solicitor/barrister with the High Court of New Zealand in 2015. Though ever-focused on developing her skills as an advocate, Edda has never forgotten that life is to be enjoyed.
From fire dancing in Thailand to belting out 1980’s karaoke tunes up and down the Kapati Coast, she loves living in the joy of the moment. Possessed of a life imbued with strong familial bonds (and a never-ending passion for SPAM), Edda personally understands the challenges faced by immigrants moving to New Zealand and seeks to dedicate her skills to helping others as a member of the IC legal team.
