The Prime Ministers of Australia and New Zealand have agreed that people travelling to both countries for the event will only need to apply for one visa. This visa will be issued in accordance with Australia’s existing visa framework and will streamline procedures for genuine Cricket World Cup spectators and participants.

Australia and New Zealand are working together closely to implement this new visa arrangement. Further information on the new arrangements will be provided on the Department of Immigration and Border Protection website as it becomes available.

In the meantime, if people are planning to visit Australia and New Zealand now, or wish to apply now for visas to travel at a later date, they will still need to apply for two visas, one for each country.

If you are transiting through either Australia or New Zealand to reach your destination, you may need to apply for a transit visa. Refer to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection or for information on transit visas.

For Australia

All visitors to Australia must have a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia. The passport you hold will determine which visa you can apply for. Information on which Australian visa is suitable for you is available on the Department’s website.

For New Zealand

If you are coming to visit New Zealand and your home country is on the visa free countries list, you can enter New Zealand without a visa, depending on how long you want to stay. If you are not from a visa free country you will need a visa.
